TUESDAYS: Mastering the CLOSE EMBRACE: intensive in March & April

We are so excited to start our newest course, an intensive weekly programme dedicated to building the close embrace, and understand the technique behind. Dates will be every Tuesday, until 07/04 and is open to Improver and Intermediate levels.

What is our new course about?

Mastering the Close Embrace is a 6-week course designed to make your tango feel more connected, comfortable, and effortless—especially in milongas where space is limited. We’ll refine the embrace itself (posture, tone, breathing, elasticity, and how to “hold” without gripping), then build the technique that makes close embrace work: clean weight changes, grounded walking, shared axis awareness, dissociation without strain, and pivots that stay compact.

You will learn how to communicate clearly through the chest and intention, improve synchronisation and timing, and create fluidity through simple, high-quality movement.

Expect practical drills, guided partner work, and floorcraft training—how to find space, manage traffic, and move gracefully around the line of dance—so you finish with a calmer lead/follow, better musical response, and a close embrace that feels safe, elegant, and genuinely enjoyable for both partners.

We will cover, during this new intensive course:

  • Understanding the structure of the close embrace: alignment, posture, tone and elasticity
  • How to create comfort and stability without tension
  • Walking technique in close embrace: grounded steps, clean weight changes, shared balance
  • Dissociation and compact pivots adapted for small spaces
  • Clear lead/follow communication through the chest and intention
  • Practical steps and sequences in close embrace
  • Synchronisation of timing, pauses and musical phrasing
  • Fluid transitions between steps without breaking the embrace
  • Navigating crowded floors: floorcraft, line of dance awareness, and elegant space management
  • Maintaining connection in close proximity
  • Developing subtlety, sensitivity and confidence in social dancing

By the end of the course, you’ll not only feel more secure in close embrace—you’ll actually enjoy it, and others will notice the difference in your calm, precise and beautifully connected dance.

You can join lessons individually (although we strongly recommend you attend all for optimum learning and development).
