Juan Martin Carrara & Stefania Colina

Intercontinental champions Juan Martin & Stefania are without doubt amongst the most gifted
maestros and performers, and the favourites of many. Well known for their pure Tango Salon style
and emphasis on connection and embrace, they will give four workshops in the morning to set the
right tone and perform on Saturday night, and be your warm hosts during the event.
They regularly teach and perform at the BA Worldwide championships and festivals. Don’t miss them!

4 WORKSHOPS

From styling to musicality, from use of speed to giros: the maestros will surpass themselves and show their tips and secrets. Four intensive workshops that can be taken separately, or all together to maximise learning, immediately applicable to the milongas at the Encuentro! DJ Punto y Branca frequently musicalises at European festivals and milongas, where he is always expected with great anticipation. Through the years, he has built a serious fan base. This year alone, he is DJing at more than 20 festivals in Europe and beyond.

DJ Adrian is a true musicalizador and Porteño, with a wide experience DJing. His specialty? Playing from vinyl records (LPs), adding a rich sound, often seen as closer to what the orchestra intended. Be warned, you won’t be able to sit down when Adrian plays his sets!

DJ Hernan has DJed in many milongas, and is well known for his precise selection of tunes, both homogeneous during a tanda, and being the most danceable. Hernan likes the fabulous sound of the Golden Age. A true DJ with a big heart.

Daniel is a resident DJ in London, as well as a tango teacher. He skillfully mixes a wide repertoire of tunes, to make it a memorable experience. He keeps his pulse on the floor to make the milonga a truly special one.

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS

Respect for all dancers

Make everyone feel comfortable:

— usage of cabeceo for invitations
— being courteous in all situations
— adapting to one’s partner level and style for a pleasant experience for both dancers
— same gender dancing and role swapping is welcome (no swapping in mid-tanda)

Respect for the floor

Make the milonga a great place to dance:

— respect for the line of dance and keeping the flow going
— clearing the floor during cortinas
— no movement that might endanger other dancers, such as high boleos or fast cruising across lanes
— during the tanda, the floor is only used for dancing (no crossing to get food, or greet someone, etc)

Our preferences

Not rules, but encouraged behaviour:

— A close, warm embrace – traditional tango
— Finish your tanda unless something major happened
— Invite new faces, not only your old pals
— Help us keep the milonga and drinks table tidy and avoid putting your cups on the floor
— Dress elegantly and appropriately for the milonga
— You understand that some photos might be taken and shared online

REGISTRATION – HOW TO

Before registering, please ensure you agree with the 'Important Considerations' above

FOR THE WORKSHOPS

— You can choose to attend one workshop or several. The full Workshop pass provides a discount.
— Solo and couple dancers are welcome. The maestros will rotate couples, ensuring everyone is dancing and participating fully. If you’d rather not rotate, please let them know at the beginning of the workshop.
— We will close registration of a certain role in case of imbalance.

— HOW TO: Click on ‘Book Workshops’ below and select your workshop, as a leader, a follower or a couple. If you register as a couple, please ensure you arrive together as only your name will be at the till. You will be given a wristband at reception, with the corresponding booking.

— PLEASE NOTE registrations / passes are non-refundable.

FOR THE MILONGAS

— You can choose to come on Saturday, Sunday or both. Day passes include the two milongas on that day; no single milonga entry will be sold.
— couple registrations are available until the encuentro is full, so register as a couple whenever possible
— in order to aim for appropriate role balance, only 50 passes will be available to solo leaders, and 50 for solo followers. Once the number of pass is sold, you can register to be on waiting list, or register with someone as a couple if you find someone to accompany you to the encuentro.
— Please do NOT buy a leader / couple pass if you are a solo follower and vice versa.

— HOW TO: Click on ‘Book Milongas’ below and select either Saturday, Sunday, or both days, as a leader, a follower or a couple. If you register as a couple, please ensure you arrive together as only your name will be at the till. You will be given a wristband at reception, with the corresponding booking.

— PLEASE NOTE registrations are non refundable.

FOR THE TOUR OF LONDON

— The tour of London is free of charge on Saturday 21/03.
— It is limited to 20 participants to make it pleasant for everyone.
— You will need an Oyster card or transport card, as we will take a bus and/or tube.

To attend, please send us a message to register, and meet at the entrance of Unity at 2.30pm on Sat.
The group will only wait 5 min and make their way to the sights. If you cannot make it on the day, please send us a message to let us know.

TRAVELING TO LONDON
You can travel to any of the London airports (Heathrow, City, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted) although the first two are closer to the centre (most central being City airport). If you can jump into the Eurostar, the St Pancras terminal is an excellent choice as we are only 5 min away! Check our TRAVEL page for a few options.
